Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed Abdulkadir, has completed the construction of 64 roads, totalling 700km in six years of his administration.
Titus Saul Ketkukah, commissioner for works and transport who spoke during a phone -in program organised by the ministry of information and communication, disclosed that out of the 64 roads, 31 are completed while other 33 are under construction.
Ketkukah said that some of the completed roads are: Yelwan Duguri – Badaran Dutse – Birim – Bajama – Kundak – Wurno and Burga road at 54.80km, dualization of airport road at 17.7km, dualization of Awalah round about at 7.0km, construction of Bogoro – Lusa – Boi and Tapshin at 11.20km, Warji to Gwaram at 17.20km, Itas – Gadau road where the main campus of the state university is at 24.50km, Rimin Zayam – Polchi – Palama at 22.00km, Soro – Miya at 56.00km, Rishi – Tulu – Tama at 19.70km, Dindima – Yashi – Mainamaji at 29.00km, and many others.
While some of the ongoing ones include Rugan Kila – Gokaru – Gwaram – Alkaleri road at 18.60km, Zango – Gwallagan Mayaka at 4.00km, Darazo – Gabchiyari at 22.00km, Magaman Gumau – Gumau road at 27.00km, Sabon Kaura – Birshi Gandu at 4.50km and many others.
The Commissioner said that the ongoing construction of the two flyovers in Wunti and central market is 58.90 completion, adding that the flyovers are designed to ease traffic congestion and give the state capital a more modern outlook.
Ketkukah said that the governor also constructed 17 bridges, drainages and culverts in all the 20 local government areas that formed Bauchi State.
He explained that the core mandate of the Ministry of Works and Transport is to plan, design, construct, and maintain public infrastructure , particularly roads, bridges, and transport facilities. The Ministry relies on its team of professional engineers who are saddled with the responsibility of preparing designs, supervising works, and ensuring strict compliance with project specifications to meet global best practices.
According to the Commissioner, the administration has placed special emphasis on both urban and rural renewal, with several projects already completed while others reached an impressive level of completion includes of the Rural and township roads across all Local Government Areas in Bauchi state.
He said that the road development programme will significantly improve access to markets, connecting rural producers with urban centres and stimulating economic growth across the state.
The Commissioner of works and transport, Professor Titus Saul Ketkukah assured the people that by God grace Governor Bala Mohammed Abdulkadir will complete all of the ongoing roads before ending of his tenure.
