PoshClick Foundation, a registered non-governmental organisation dedicated to transforming the lives of young people in underserved communities, has successfully concluded its comprehensive five-day empowerment program for secondary school students in Lagos.
The initiative, titled Youth Empowerment Through Life & Vocational Skills and themed “Skill Up, Stand Out,” ran from Monday, July 28 to Friday, August 1, 2025, delivering on its promise to provide alternative pathways to success for over 120 participating students.
The program, designed specifically for senior secondary students to bridge the gap for those who may not have immediate access to higher education, combined intensive technical skills training with personal development sessions. Rather than replacing formal education, the initiative provides an alternative pathway that equips participants with income-generating skills they can leverage to support themselves and fund their future university education or build sustainable careers and businesses.
The week-long initiative began with a powerful opening day featuring motivational sessions from industry experts, including Chris Omoijiade, CEO of The Chris Omoijiade Company, Tolagbe Martins, Founder of TM Grammar, Sisi Visage, and Kola Oshalusi, Creative Director of Insigna Media. Students engaged in character building, self-leadership, communication, and etiquette training that sparked meaningful discussions about their potential beyond conventional educational pathways.
The program’s core strength lay in its hands-on vocational training conducted at the Skooqs Technology and Creative Center in Ogba, Lagos State.
Over three intensive training days, students gained comprehensive exposure to income-generating skills through expert-led sessions. Photography workshops were led by Jokotade Shonowo, Creative Director/Founder of Poshclick Portraiture and PoshClick Foundation, and Promzi, CEO of Promzi Media, who guided students through visual storytelling and professional photography techniques.
Content creation sessions were facilitated by Uche Agu, CEO of Ouch Films Multimedia, and Agboti George, Creative Director of Reels By George, who equipped students with skills in video production, social media content development, and digital storytelling strategies. Fashion styling training was conducted by industry experts Demilade Osanyintolu, CEO of Sisi Hannah, and Oluwadamilola Sofowora, Founder of Soleil by Damisho, who taught students about personal styling, fashion coordination, and brand development.
Digital literacy sessions led by Deji Morgan focused on essential computer skills, online safety, and digital communication tools necessary for modern workplace success. Makeup artistry workshops were expertly delivered by Omontese Ita, Founder of BeautyCook Studio, and Eniola Ayoola, Founder of Ennie Yapha, who introduced students to professional makeup techniques, color theory, and beauty business fundamentals.
Participants were strategically grouped into vocational teams to execute real-world projects, including professional photoshoots, video content production, and styling showcases.
The program’s impact became evident throughout the week as students discovered talents they never knew they possessed. Jokotade Shonowo, Creative Director/Founder of Poshclick Portraiture and PoshClick Foundation, reflected on the week’s achievements: “We believe that skills are the new currency and that talent is equally distributed, but opportunities are not.
PoshClick Foundation bridges this gap by delivering comprehensive programs that combine technical skills training with personal development. Every student deserves a shot at success, not just through formal education, but through hands-on learning and real-world mentorship.”
The transformative power of the program also resonated deeply with participants. Ajayi Gift, Head Girl of Babs Fafunwa Grammar School, expressed the collective sentiment during the closing ceremony: “We are better because of PoshClick. We thank the PoshClick Foundation for giving us the opportunity to skill up and stand out.”
Abayi Norah, another student from Babs Fafunwa Grammar School, also shared her enthusiasm: “It was an amazing experience that gave me hope for my future. I wouldn’t normally have access to such role models at home, so learning from them inspired me. I hope this kind of opportunity reaches other underserved communities.”
The program culminated on Friday, August 1, 2025, with a final day focused on life development skills beyond vocational training. Sessions led by Jennifer Awirigwue (Financial Jennifer), Founder of Fin Tribe, and Oluchi Nsofor, Media Executive, covered entrepreneurship, financial literacy, leadership, and professional etiquette, ensuring students walked away with both skills and a success-oriented mindset. The event featured awards presentations recognizing outstanding performers and the launch of internship and mentorship placements for top participants, creating sustainable pathways for continued growth and real-world application of their skills.
At PoshClick Foundation, the organisation believes that providing young people with practical skills and genuine opportunities creates ripple effects that extend far beyond individual participants, transforming families and entire communities. This initiative represents more than a corporate social responsibility opportunity; it is a strategic investment in human potential and a commitment to breaking cycles of limited opportunity.
The program’s success creates a compelling case for scaling this model to reach even more underserved communities across Nigeria. PoshClick Foundation continues to welcome partnerships, sponsorships, and resource support to multiply the program’s impact and extend its reach to additional young people ready to transform their futures.
