Feyishola Jaiyesimi, BusinessDay’s agric reporter, has been selected as one of 10 fellows for the Dataphyte Biodiversity Fellowship.
The programme, run by Dataphyte Foundation, commenced in August and would run through October 2025, being designed to strengthen evidence-based journalism around Nigeria’s biodiversity crisis.
The fellowship offers training and support for reporting on critical issues such as species extinction, destructive land-use practices, nature-based conservation strategies, and the unintended consequences of conservation efforts.
Feyisola is one of 10 fellows selected from a competitive pool of over 200 applications for the 2025 Dataphyte Biodiversity Fellowship.
With threats to Nigeria’s ecosystems growing, this fellowship aims to equip journalists with the tools and knowledge to centre biodiversity in national environmental discourse.
Feyishola is a storyteller and an agricultural and environmental journalist passionate about reporting on the intersection between food security and the environment.
With a background in zoology and environmental biology, she brings a sharp analytical lens and exceptional attention to detail to every piece she writes. Her expertise spans the publishing and media sectors, giving her a well-rounded perspective that enriches her work.
Before joining BusinessDay, she worked at Opera News. Feyi is known for transforming complex stories and analytical concepts into accessible, engaging content that resonates with diverse audiences.
