…relaunches ‘Jeni & Keni’ animation series
On November 1, 2023, House of Ajebo, Nigeria’s cartoon comedy brand, entertainment and animation powerhouse, launched ‘Jeni and Keni’, a captivating children educational and entertainment animation series, which seeks to bridge the educational gap among children while imparting essential values such as empathy, kindness, and more.
Since the launch at Ebony Place in Victoria Island, Lagos, the animation series has lived up to expectations, wooing more Nigerian children and African Diasporas to the House of Ajebo’s YouTube channels.
Two years down the line, the series is being relaunched for more excitement and impartation of value-based learning.
On August 16, 2025, ‘House of Ajebo’ Animation Studios heightened the excitement and learning in the children-focused animation series with a relaunch event in Lagos.
With the relaunch, ‘Jeni and Keni’ Nigerian kids’ learning animation series will now screen across the continent, amid brighter pictures and bigger adventures.
Designed as a top-tier kids’ learning and entertainment channel in Africa, the series blends educational cartoons for kids with heartwarming African children’s stories in a fun, relatable, and culturally rich way, delivering an 80 percent kids’ music channel.
Available for streaming on YouTube, ‘Jeni and Keni’, the brainchild of Erem Emeka Nehemiah, a storyteller who has been creating excitement while telling the African story for over 14 years, delivers kids’ learning videos in Nigeria that inspire, entertain, and educate.
‘Jeni & Keni’, which is brought to audiences by ‘House of Ajebo Animations’, a learning and entertainment channel with a blend of Afro-fusion, follows two lively siblings as they navigate everyday adventures, sharing valuable life lessons while showcasing African culture for children.
Speaking on the relaunch, Erem said: “With the new Jeni and Keni in 3D, kids around the world can enjoy high quality animations that compete on the global stage. We are not just creating quality educational materials but are exporting our sound, culture and showing the world the beauty of Africa.
“It is an invitation for African children everywhere to be proud of their identity from a young age and enjoy learning, dance and play”.
Explaining the rationale for the relaunch, Erem said that it is a leap for House of Ajebo.
“We started in 2D cartoons, now our production meets global standards and we can go shoulder to shoulder with other global brands,” he said.
“It also opened doors to other segments like African Folktales, The world in a nutshell, Did you know and Kids party DJ”.
Speaking on the target audience, Erem explained that Jeni and Keni caters to children between 1-6 years. “They are our primary audience,” he noted.
The milestone, according to him, is worth celebrating, as the outfit relaunched the Jeni & Keni 2.0, as well as launched a new website.
On the effectiveness of entertaining and teaching with animation, Erem noted, “We are a product of what we consume and ages 1-6 are the formative years, a time children should know their identity. “People who are pushing negative agenda know how to catch kids young; they take it to schools”.
He insisted that if animation studios like his, make black character heros, put the African outfits on global platforms, put indigenous sound in front of kids, they will grow up proud to be Africans and even the world will see them differently.
The highlight of African culture and heritage globally, according to him, is one of the major reasons the animation series exists.
“We need to explore landmarks, historic and monumental buildings from across Africa, our music is Afrobeat and the outfits are African too”.
A pioneer animation creator in Africa since 2012, Erem added that through engaging plots, colourful cartoon characters from Nigeria, and captivating storytelling, the series delivers moral lessons for children and relatable scenarios rooted in everyday African life.
On her part, Uchenna Erem, co-founder of ‘House of Ajebo’, described ‘Jeni and Keni’ as more than just an African kids’ TV show. According to her, it is a thoughtful blend of fun learning for kids and early childhood education cartoons crafted for a global audience.
“The series embodies African family entertainment at its finest, encouraging imagination while preserving the unique values, humour, and warmth of African traditions. We believe in the power of fun learning for kids, and ‘Jeni & Keni’ delivers that with a unique African flair. Every episode is crafted to entertain while teaching timeless values that children can carry with them,” she said.
Following the relaunch, episodes will be available on the ‘Jeni and Keni’ YouTube channel dedicated to the show and on its website, www.jeniandkeni.com, where children and families can enjoy full episodes, bonus content, free educational materials, folktales and educational games.
With the success of the animation series, House of Ajebo thinks that Africans are ready, and just want great quality materials that are relatable.
“The industry is starved of great quality African content and places where kids can go have fun that are African focused,” Erem concluded.
For now, the series is available on YouTube and the websites, while House of Ajebo will open to other global platforms as time goes on.
