Aba Power Limited Electric (APLE), an electricity distribution company (DISCO), in charge of the Aba ring fence, consisting of 9 out of the 17 Local Government Areas of Abia State, has announced a weeklong electricity disruption across its franchise in Abia State.
The electricity disruption is expected to take place between August 21 and 28, 2025, according to a statement by the power distribution company.
According to the Disco, the electricity disruption is due to a planned critical infrastructure maintenance, by Geometric Power Aba Limited (GPAL) gas supplier.
GPAL is Aba Power’s primary power provider.
Consequently, the Disco would, within the period, rely on supply from the national grid.
Part of the statement read, “Dear valued customer, we have just been informed by our primary power provider, Geometric Power Aba Limited, (GPAL), of critical infrastructure maintenance, by their gas supplier, which will impact GPAL’s ability to generate and supply power from August 21 to 28, 2025.
“During this period, we will rely mainly on power imports from the national grid to serve our customers.
“While grid supply may be limited, we assure you that we will do our best to ensure that all stakeholders are duly serviced.
“We sincerely regret any inconvenience this may cause and hope that this timely message will enable customers to plan”.
