LAPO Microfinance Bank (LAPO MfB) marked International Youth Day 2025 with a month-long series of youth-focused initiatives. The celebrations were anchored on three core pillars: Economic Empowerment, Digital Technology, and Education. This aligns with the United Nations’ theme for International Youth Day 2025, “Local Youth Actions for the SDGs and Beyond”, highlighting the transformative power of collaboration, innovation, and digital engagement in building a sustainable future.
LAPO MfB partnered with the University of Lagos Mass Communication Students’ Association for workshops, mentorship, and competitions. A major highlight was Finance Literacy Day, an interactive forum on personal finance, savings culture, and business growth. The event culminated in the Pitch Your Biz competition, where student entrepreneurs presented innovative ideas to a panel of business and finance experts. Three winners emerged: the top pitch received ₦150,000, the first runner-up ₦100,000, and the second runner-up ₦75,000 — all sponsored by LAPO MfB.

The activities also featured A Day with the Corper, a collaborative outreach with the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), where corps members were equipped with practical skills in entrepreneurship, civic innovation, digital tools, and financial literacy. LAPO MfB sponsored TEDx Zamaru and TEDx Enugu — gatherings that drew over 10,000 youths, thought leaders, and budding entrepreneurs — as well as The Emerge Conference.
The month-long celebration culminated at LAPO Place, the bank’s Lagos headquarters, with the Main Youth Day Celebration organised by the Next Gen team. The event featured documentary screenings, keynote speeches from young trailblazers, impact storytelling, and an informal networking session.
By aligning with the UN’s vision for International Youth Day, LAPO MfB went beyond celebration — it made a sustained investment in the potential of young people to drive meaningful change. Through funding, mentorship, and education, the bank reaffirmed its belief that the energy, creativity, and commitment of today’s youth are central to building an inclusive, sustainable Nigeria of tomorrow.
