Richarlison scored twice as Tottenham eased past newly promoted Burnley 3-0, giving Thomas Frank his first Premier League victory in charge of Spurs.
Despite netting only four league goals throughout the 2024/25 season, the Brazilian forward was at his best at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, reminding fans of the form that prompted the club to pay £60 million for him three years ago.
He opened the scoring just 10 minutes in, brilliantly spinning and finishing on the turn after sharp work on the right from Mohammed Kudus, who impressed on his Premier League debut for Spurs following a £55 million summer move from West Ham.
Richarlison and Kudus combined again for the second, this time Kudus floated a cross to the back post, where Richarlison launched into an acrobatic volley that brought the crowd to its feet. The strike was replayed repeatedly on the stadium’s four big screens, drawing huge applause from the home support.
Tottenham added a third midway through the second half, with Richarlison again involved. He initiated the move before Pape Matar Sarr slid a pass through for Brennan Johnson, who sprinted clear and finished clinically.
Richarlison received a standing ovation when he was substituted in the 71st minute for Dominic Solanke, who came close to adding a fourth but fired narrowly wide.
The win marked a successful league debut for Frank, who took over in June following the sacking of Ange Postecoglou.
