The presentation, held in Asaba, was carried out on behalf of the Inspector General of police (IGP) Kayode Egbetokun, under the IGP Family Welfare Scheme and Group Life Assurance programme.
Speaking during the ceremony, CP Abaniwonda commended the selfless service and sacrifices of the deceased officers, noting that their contributions to the Nigeria Police Force and the nation will not be forgotten.
Similarly, a total of 65 youth-led businesses across the Niger Delta region has been awarded grants, totalling N44.3 million, by the Foundation for Partnership Initiatives in the Niger Delta (PIND), a non-profit organisation.
The grants were presented to the beneficiaries during the PIND’s Youth Employment Pathways (PEP) Business Challenge Awards Fund Ceremony, in partnership with the Nigeria Philanthropy Office (NPO), held in Asaba, Delta State, as part of the activities marking the 2025 International Youth Day.
Speaking at the event, Sam Daibo, the Executive Director of PIND, said the catalytic grants to the 65 youth-led businesses reaffirmed the organisation’s commitment to unlocking youth potential as a driver of peace and sustainable economic development in the Niger Delta.
