The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has temporarily withdrawn access to the 2025 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) results for school candidates following the discovery of technical glitches during an internal review.
In a statement signed by Moyosola Adesina, Ag. Head of Public Affairs, the Council explained that the issue was linked to its recently introduced paper serialisation initiative, deployed in Mathematics, English Language, Biology, and Economics as part of efforts to curb examination malpractice in line with global best practices.
According to WAEC, post-release checks revealed technical bugs affecting the results. As a result, the Council has restricted access to the results on its checker portal to enable urgent review and corrections.
“We extend our deep and sincere apologies to all affected candidates and the general public. We appreciate their patience and understanding as we work diligently to resolve this matter with transparency and urgency within the next twenty-four (24) hours,” the statement read.
The Council advised candidates who have already checked their results to re-check them after the review is completed.
WAEC reiterated its commitment to excellence, fairness, and transparency in its assessment processes, assuring stakeholders of its dedication to delivering quality service to the Nigerian child.
