Truecaller, the global platform for verifying contacts and blocking unwanted communications, has crossed 100 million monthly active users in the Middle East and Africa (MEA) region, with Nigeria, Egypt, and South Africa emerging as key growth drivers.
The milestone, achieved in August, represents a 19 per cent year-on-year growth for the company across Android and iOS platforms.
According to Truecaller, the surge in adoption reflects the rapid expansion of smartphone use and mobile data penetration across MEA markets.

“With the Middle East and Africa experiencing significant growth in smartphone adoption and mobile data usage, we are really happy that we’re able to solve communication problems for individuals and businesses in that region. MEA, like India and many other markets, are mobile-first markets with your mobile number being the primary identifier, and Truecaller has always grown organically in such markets,” said Rishit Jhunjhunwala, Truecaller’s chief executive officer.
Nigeria, Egypt, South Africa, Kenya, Algeria, Ghana, and Jordan are among Truecaller’s largest MEA markets, with the service used on 20 to 45 percent of connected smartphones in these countries.
In Nigeria, where spam calls and fraudulent messaging remain common concerns, the app has become a popular tool for protecting users from scams and ensuring more secure communication.

Jhunjhunwala said the company would continue strengthening its organisation and partnerships in the region, underscoring its confidence in the MEA market’s long-term growth potential.
“Truecaller has always been about trust in communication. We are continuing to strengthen our presence and partnerships in the region because we believe that the MEA is poised for significant growth for many years ahead,” he added.
