The leadership of Joint Task Force North East Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK) undertook a 3-day operational assessment to Sector 2 OPHK area of responsibility from July 29-31, 2025, to further build the resilience and fighting spirit of the gallant troops.
During the visit by Abdulsalam Abubakar, Theatre Commander, Operation HADIN KAI, to troops’ locations including Headquarters Sector 2 Damaturu, 233 Battalion Damaturu, 159 Battalion Geidam, Forward Operations Bases Bukharti, Kanama, Babangida and Kukurata, he conveyed the charge of the CDS and Service Chiefs to the troops.
Reuben Kovagiya, (a captain), acting Deputy Director, Army Public Relations, Headquarters Theatre Command, Operation HADIN KAI, stated this in a statement made available to BusinessDay, Saturday.

He said that the commander also relayed the commendations of the Chief of Army Staff to the troops on their sacrifices in the field and other efforts in the fight against insurgency in the North-East (NE), and assured the troops that welfare and sound administration of soldiers remain the top priority of the Military High Command.
The Theatre Commander disclosed that the visit was to assess troops’ feeding, well-being and directly interact with them to attend to their immediate challenges, and commended the troops for their resilience and determination, urging them to remain disciplined, maintain aggressive posture and sustain offensive operations, to completely defeat the terrorists and return total normalcy to the North East region.
“The Commander further relayed the message of the Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen OO Oluyede, that any soldier who performed exceptionally well in the line of duty would be recognised and encouraged accordingly through several welfares/initiatives granted to the Theatre.
“He equally charged the troops to adhere to the Armed Forces of Nigeria Policy on the use of social media, and follow the appropriate channels of expressing their concerns to the military higher authorities.

“As part of the activities during the visit, the TC commissioned new and renovated projects, including Sector 2 Main Repair Group Vehicle Bay. He also visited and toured the Army Logistics Base 3, Level II Field Hospital Damaturu, as well as troops’ deployments, critical combat enablers and other facilities.
“One of the significant highlights of the visit was the decoration of Inspector MD Yusuf, who was promoted to the rank of Assistant Superintendent II of Police. Other highlights included presentation of briefs, exchange of souvenirs and group photographs.
“The Theatre Commander was accompanied on the visit by the Acting Commander Sector 2 OPHK Brigadier General Beyedi Martins, Commandant Nigerian Army Special Forces School, Component Commanders, supporting Commanders of Sector 2 and staff officers of Headquarters Theatre Command OPHK,” the statement further stated.
