…as Ogun begins disbursement of credit to artisans
The Oyo State Government has approved additional funds for disbursement under its single-digit administrative charges of agricultural loan schemes.
Taofeek Akeugbagold, the Chairman, Agricultural Credit Corporation of Oyo State (ACCOS), who stated this in an interactive session with a group of farmers at the Corporation’s Headquarters in Ibadan, said the additional loan was part of continued efforts to empower farmers, promote food security, and boost agricultural productivity across the State.
According to Akeugbagold, the decision was to ensure that farmers have access to affordable financing to support crop cultivation, livestock production, agro-processing, and other agricultural ventures.

“The Oyo State Government, through ACCOS, is providing more opportunities for farmers to access its agricultural loan and expand their operations. This will contribute meaningfully to the state’s food system”, he noted.
He explained that the scheme targets both existing beneficiaries and new applicants who meet the eligibility requirements.
Akeugbagold also emphasised that the Government is determined to reach grassroots farmers in all 33 Local Government Areas of the State.
While encouraging farmers to take full advantage of the new window of opportunity, Akeugbagold reminded beneficiaries of the first phase of the scheme to fulfil their repayment obligations without delay.
Meanwhile, the Ogun State Government, through the Ministry of Community Development and Cooperatives, has begun the registration process preparatory to the disbursement of N500 million worth of business and industrial loans to artisans and small-scale business owners in the State.

Balogun, while acknowledging Dapo Abiodun-led Administration’s efforts in empowering the people to aid socio-economic development and enhance self-sufficiency, assured that the process leading to the disbursement of the funds would be transparent as it would accommodate all categories of beneficiaries, including artisans and small-scale business owners.
Responding, Dickson Awolaja, House Committee Chairman, advocated increased funding to strengthen the grassroots economy and investments, as well as cooperative initiatives.
