Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State has announced a major cabinet reshuffle, relieving Muhammad Sani Bello of his duties as Commissioner for Information and replacing him with Ahmed Maiyaki, the current Managing Director of the Kaduna State Media Corporation (KSMC).
The development was confirmed in a statement issued on Tuesday by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Ibraheem Musa.
The statement noted that Governor Sani thanked Bello for his service and contributions to the administration, wishing him well in his future endeavours.
“His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Kaduna State, Senator Uba Sani (CON), has approved the appointment of Alhaji Ahmed Maiyaki as the new Commissioner of Information,” the statement read in part.
“This follows the disengagement of Professor Muhammad Sani Bello from the Kaduna State Executive Council.”
The statement further noted that Bello served as the pioneer Commissioner of Education under the current administration before being redeployed to head the Ministry of Information.
While no official reason was given for the change, sources within the government stated that the move was part of Governor Sani’s broader strategy to reposition the state’s information machinery for “greater efficiency and public engagement.”
Maiyaki is expected to be sworn in immediately and will assume duties as part of the governor’s media and communications team.
He previously served in various media capacities, including as Director-General of Media and Publicity under a past administration.
