International corporate law firm Parsons has launched operations in Nigeria, as part of a broader expansion into key global and African markets.
With new offices in Lagos, London, and the United Arab Emirates, the firm is positioning itself to advise on high-value transactions involving African markets.
Founded by U.K.-based senior lawyers Dr. Gabriel Onagoruwa and Gregory Kahn, Parsons aims to provide sophisticated legal support to corporations, financial institutions, sponsors, and government entities engaged in cross-border deals.
“The firm is positioned to advise on complex, cross-border legal matters, particularly where African markets intersect with global capital and commercial flows,” the firm said in a statement on Tuesday.
Dr. Onagoruwa, a U.K. and Nigeria-qualified corporate and finance lawyer, said Parsons is committed to Africa’s economic transformation. “We do not see Africa as a frontier but as a core part of the global economy,” he said. “We are here to partner with clients who share that vision.”
With over two decades of experience, Onagoruwa has advised on transactions exceeding US$50 billion in value. He was formerly a partner and Global Finance Chair at Olaniwun Ajayi (UK) LLP in London and spent over a decade at White & Case LLP.
Also leading the new firm is Gregory Kahn, a former partner at Dentons, the world’s largest law firm. Kahn now heads Parsons’ Middle East practice, bringing extensive experience in asset and structured finance, including aviation, shipping, and infrastructure.
He said: “Our clients are increasingly involved in transactions flowing from Europe and the Gulf into Africa. Parsons is built to support that kind of work with practical, business-focused legal advice.”
While the Lagos office would serve as a hub for West Africa, the firm also noted plans to expand into Ghana, Kenya, and jurisdictions within the OHADA region.
“We combine international legal excellence with a grounded understanding of African markets,” Onagoruwa added. “Whether a deal is flowing into Africa or originating from it, we’re here to support it with insight, precision, and purpose.”
