The Federal Government has disbursed over N70million Presidential Standing Committee on Inventions and Innovations (PSCII) grants to 56 inventors and innovators across the six geopolitical zones, who benefited from year 2016 PSCII grants.
The cheque presentation ceremony which took place in Abuja was in line with the Federal Government’s support initiative to ‘Made-in-Nigeria products’.
“Since the inception of this programme in 2005, 188 Nigerians across the six geopolitical zones have benefitted after satisfying the selection process.
“Over 400 interested inventors and entrepreneurs submitted applications which were thoroughly scrutinized by the committee and 56 Nigerians were selected after authenticating their claims,” he said.
While congratulating the beneficiaries, the Minister urged them to use the grant to improve, mass produce, commercialize their products where necessary and register their patents.
“Government is taking this action because your success will lead to the development of small and medium scale enterprises which will in turn enhance job/wealth creation across Nigeria,” Onu averred.
One of the inventors, Ezekial Izuogwu of Imo state who invented a perpetual mission machine known as the Imagneto Dynamics Machine, who got a grant of N10 million, noted that science and technology is critical to Nigeria’s survival.
“I made a pain staking research on alternative energy which we embarked upon, science says it is impossible to build the perpetual mission machine and that is what we have built and we are the first in the world.
“We must not under-rate Nigeria, the inventors here today are thinking people, it is called the imagine to dynamics machine. It means Nigeria have an engine that can power a car for fifty years without fuel, or oil, it can power the airplane to go to London at less than one-tenth the price because you will not be buying fuel, it can power the plane, it can power the bus, and it can power a whole lot of other things. It is God’s revolution for the world and change the spate of poverty. I celebrate the ten million, but it is small because we are patenting in 139 countries of the world. Changing the N10 million to dollars cannot patent 10 countries. For the first time Nigerians are recognizing those working day and night. For the good of Nigeria, so I celebrate it.” he said
On his part, Yemi Osifodunrin, who got N4 million grant as an inventor of three patent rights, said: “What can be done to take inventors to the next level is the bringing into live what I would call the Nigerian research innovation council for the purpose of assisting in the commercialisation of all these projects so that it can be mass produced and seen in the market.”
