The Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy has announced a new partnership through its 3 Million Technical Talent (3MTT) programme. In collaboration with Data Science Nigeria (DSN), the Ministry will work with WESOnline to provide structured mentorship and training to young Nigerians preparing for employment in the digital economy.
“At the heart of our digital transformation agenda is the commitment to empower Nigerians with the skills and support they need to succeed in a global digital economy,” said Bosun Tijani, Honourable Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy.
The initiative is part of the Federal Government’s plan to accelerate Nigeria’s digital transformation and ensure more young people are equipped for technical roles. It will combine digital learning, job readiness assessments, and mentorship opportunities with a focus on employability.
According to the Ministry, the partnership aligns with the 3MTT vision of creating Nigeria’s largest pool of trained technical talent. By connecting participants with experienced professionals, both locally and in the diaspora, the programme aims to address the gap between digital skills training and actual job placement.
“This partnership represents a convergence of purpose — to empower Nigeria’s youth with the tools, experiences, and networks they need to lead in a digital world. Mentors are the cornerstone of this vision,” said Francis Sanni O., 3MTT Programme Director and Technical Adviser to the Honourable Minister.
The training and mentorship will be delivered through 3mtt.wesonline.ai, the official 3MTT mentorship portal. The platform offers access to a global community of mentors and includes AI-powered features such as job simulations, progress tracking, and career readiness tools.
Dr. Roti Balogun, Founder and Innovator of WESOnline, explained the importance of the mentorship aspect of the initiative. “This phase reflects our belief that mentorship, when done right with intent, can unlock the true value of bridging the employment gap. By connecting learners to real experts — local and diaspora — we strengthen Nigeria’s innovation pipeline.”
WESOnline, the flagship platform of Hy-Initiative, is designed to help young people transition from education to the workplace through simulations and personalised support. DSN brings in its network of experts and content developed through years of work in data science and AI education.
As the programme expands, professionals in Nigeria and abroad are being invited to register as mentors. Their involvement is expected to play a key role in improving job readiness outcomes for participants and strengthening the country’s digital workforce.
