The ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) in Jigawa State has reaffirmed its unwavering loyalty to President Bola Tinubu and Governor Umar Namadi in the forthcoming 2027 general election, warning that disloyalty among members of the party and division will not be tolerated.
The party’s leadership stance comes at a time when internal rifts within the APC in Jigawa State are increasingly visible as loyalists of the incumbent Governor Namadi and those of his predecessor, former governor and current Minister of Defence Muhammad Badaru, have been openly clashing.
Accordingly, it was observed that accusations and blame-shifting between supporters of the two leaders have played out at public events and erupted across both conventional and social media platforms, fueling tensions and threatening party unity in the state.
The current stand of the party was disclosed in a statement made available to journalists in Dutse, the state capital, on Saturday by Hamisu Gumel, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor.
According to the statement, the APC leaders’ delegation, led by Nasiru Jahun, the State Deputy Chairman, reaffirmed their loyalty while paying a solidarity visit to Governor Namadi at Government House, Dutse, the state capital, on Friday night.
Speaking during the visit, Jahun described the governor as the undisputed leader of the APC in Jigawa, saying, “We are here to reaffirm our loyalty to you our Governor, Malam Umar Namadi. You are our recognised leader in Jigawa.”
However, Jahun emphasised the party’s solid backing for both Governor Namadi and President Tinubu’s second term bids come the 2027 poll. “The APC leadership in Jigawa stands solidly behind President Tinubu and Governor Namadi, endorsing your continued leadership.”
The APC leaders also praised Governor Namadi’s administration for “wonderful transformation and unprecedented achievements within just two years,” calling these efforts historic for Jigawa’s development.
While warning against disunity, the Deputy Governor noted that the party would sanction any members undermining state leadership. “Our loyalty to the governor is like that of the comical character ‘Maha’ to his teacher; without objection, whatever Malam says we will do, and wherever he directs us, we will follow,” he said.
Also, the Party leaders called on all stakeholders to maintain peace and work for Jigawa’s progress, warning that disloyalty and division will not be tolerated.
Equally, the APC leadership and stalwarts during the visit reaffirmed their confidence in President Tinubu and Governor Namadi’s vision and leadership in what they described as a move for ‘Jigawa State’s continued growth and development.’
In his response, Governor Namadi thanked the APC leadership for their solidarity and assured them of continued cooperation with the party, reiterating his commitment to fairness across the state.
He highlighted that both state and federal APCs let governments focus on people-oriented policies and developmental projects. “Our 12-point agenda closely aligns with President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, both grounded in sustainable development and the welfare of our people,” the governor explained.
Namadi further assured residents and party members of his administration’s commitment to improving lives and expanding opportunities throughout Jigawa State.
According to him, “This partnership between the federal and state governments will strengthen as we work towards a better future for our people.
“The visit reflects a unified APC front in Jigawa, consolidating support ahead of the 2027 elections,” he noted.
