Arsenal dominated the early stages and pinned Inter back from the outset, with their pressure paying off in the 10th minute when Jesus poked home from close range to open the scoring.
Inter responded with a sustained spell of pressure and drew level through Petar Sučić, who curled a powerful effort beyond David Raya from the edge of the area after Nicolò Barella’s initial shot was blocked.
As they have done repeatedly this season, Arsenal quickly reasserted control and regained the lead from a trademark set-piece in the 31st minute. Leandro Trossard headed Bukayo Saka’s deep corner back into the danger area, where the unmarked Jesus nodded in his second of the night.
The Brazilian’s brace marked Arsenal’s 19th goal from corners this season, the highest tally among clubs in Europe’s top five leagues.
Substitute Viktor Gyökeres sealed a comfortable victory late on, curling a fine strike into the net from the edge of the area six minutes from time to make it 3–1.
The result not only confirms Arsenal’s place in the top two of the league phase, ensuring they avoid the February play-offs, but also guarantees home advantage in the second leg of their knockout-stage tie.
