The Federal Government (FG) has introduced a new ‘Impact Challenge’ designed to enhance outcomes from its three-million-man training initiative as it expands its digital skills development program.
Bosun Tijani, minister of communications, innovation, and digital economy, announced the challenge through his X (formerly Twitter) account on Tuesday, revealing significant progress in the pilot phase of the 3 Million Tech Talent (3MTT) programme.
Tijani stated that more than 135,000 Nigerians have completed training across three cohorts during the pilot phase. Community resources have enabled an additional 300,000 learners to access training materials, while the program has facilitated 15,000 job and opportunity pathways.
The minister emphasised the program’s growing reach, noting that over 1.8 million Nigerians are currently in the pipeline as the government works toward its goal of equipping three million citizens with relevant digital skills.
As the program enters its expansion phase, the Impact Challenge will serve as a mechanism for the government to assess the initiative’s effectiveness.
“As we enter the scale-up phase of the programme, where we accelerate our spread towards our target, our focus is on deepening impact by strengthening the alumni community, expanding access to opportunity, and ensuring skills translate into real outcomes.”
Tijani explained that the focus during scale-up will be on strengthening the alumni network, broadening access to opportunities, and ensuring that acquired skills lead to tangible outcomes.
“As part of this next phase, I would like to hear directly from Fellows and partners through the #3MTTImpactChallenge on how 3MTT has shaped your journey so far, through the 3MTT National Impact Reflection,” the minister stated.
The challenge requires participants to share their transformation stories on social media platforms, including Facebook, LinkedIn, X, TikTok, or Instagram. Winners will receive prizes including 10 laptops, 200 e-tablets, 10GB data bundles, and other rewards.
