Labour Party presidential candidate in the 2023 election, Peter Obi, has commended the Super Eagles for their resilience and character following their third-place finish at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco.
Nigeria secured the bronze medal after defeating Egypt 4–2 on penalties in the third-place match in Casablanca.

The match ended goalless after regulation time, with goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali emerging the hero by producing two crucial saves in the shootout.

In a congratulatory message posted on his official X handle, @PeterObi praised the team for representing Nigeria with pride and honour, describing their performance as a reminder that progress is achieved through perseverance.
“Congratulations to our Super Eagles on securing the third-place medal at AFCON,” Obi wrote on his X handle.
