Manchester City have agreed a deal in principle to sign Crystal Palace England defender Marc Guehi this month during the January transfer window.
City opened talks for the 25-year-old England centre-back following injury setbacks to defenders Josko Gvardiol and Ruben Dias.
Guehi, who has been linked with several top European clubs, is out of contract in the summer and was close to joining Liverpool last year.

BBC Sport reported earlier this month that City were exploring a move for Guehi, with negotiations accelerating over the past 24 hours.
The defender is now expected to join the Premier League champions on a long-term contract before the end of the transfer window.
City have already strengthened their squad this January with the signing of winger Antoine Semenyo from Bournemouth for £62.5 million.
Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner confirmed Guehi will leave the club when his contract expires at the end of the season.
Glasner later suggested the transfer was close to completion, saying, “My understanding is the deal with Marc is in the final stages.” He also confirmed that Guehi will not be part of Palace’s squad to face Sunderland in the Premier League on Saturday.
Earlier this month, Glasner acknowledged that Palace would be willing to sell Guehi in January if their valuation was met.
Guehi captained Palace to their first major trophy in the FA Cup final against Manchester City in May and also led the team to a Community Shield victory over Liverpool at the start of the season.
If completed, Guehi would become City’s second signing of the January transfer window and Pep Guardiola’s 15th signing within a year.
