The Lagos State Waterways Authority (LASWA) has reiterated the ban on night journey on the waterways, warning that violators would be made to face the law.
The authority in a statement on Sunday, drew the attention of private and commercial boat users to the fact that any form of travels on the waterways must take place during the day.
The authority restated that the restriction was driven by safety concerns, including poor visibility and higher navigational risks after dark, and was aimed at preventing avoidable accidents.
It called on members of the public to ensure they return before sunset. LASWA further directed boat operators to comply strictly with approved operating times, enforce life jacket use for all passengers, and observe all other safety protocols.

It noted that in collaboration with the Nigerian Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA) and other security and safety agencies, it would intensify patrols across the waterways. It warned that operators and passengers who flout the night-travel ban, would face legal sanctions.
LASWA added that it remains committed to maintaining a safe, efficient and properly regulated water transport system for residents and visitors in Lagos, and urged everyone to take shared responsibility for safety on the waterways.
