The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has opened its online media accreditation portal ahead of the forthcoming Rivers State by-elections in the Ahoada East II and Khana II constituencies.
The Commission made the announcement on Monday through its official X (formerly Twitter) handle, inviting media organisations interested in covering the polls to submit their applications electronically via the designated portal.

INEC stated that the accreditation exercise is strictly online and will close on February 8, 2026, warning that applications submitted after the deadline will not be entertained under any circumstances.
According to the Commission, the by-elections in the affected constituencies have been scheduled for February 21, 2026.
The notice reads, “INEC has opened the online media accreditation portal for the upcoming Rivers State by-election in Ahoada East II and Khana II constituencies (February 21, 2026).
“All interested media organisations must apply via:imap.inecnigeria.org before the portal closes on February 8, 2026. No late applications will be considered.”
The Commission urged media organisations to complete the accreditation process early to avoid last-minute challenges and ensure seamless coverage of the electoral exercise.
