Antoine Semenyo marked his Manchester City debut with a goal as the Premier League champions delivered a ruthless 10–1 demolition of Exeter City in the FA Cup third round at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday.
The Ghana forward, who completed a £65 million ($87 million) move from Bournemouth on Friday, struck in the second half of an emphatic City performance.
Rodri also ended his long goal drought, scoring for the first time since May 2024.
Semenyo wasted no time making his presence felt under Pep Guardiola, amid reported interest from Liverpool, Manchester United and Tottenham before his move. His buyout clause was said to have been due to expire on Saturday.
Teenage defender Max Alleyne set the tone early, opening the scoring in the 12th minute with a close-range finish for his first City goal.
Rodri doubled the lead in the 24th minute, firing in from distance after Semenyo’s effort was blocked. Exeter’s resistance collapsed before half-time, with own goals from Jake Doyle-Hayes and Jack Fitzwater in the 42nd and 45th minutes effectively ending the contest.
City showed no mercy after the break. Rico Lewis volleyed in the fifth goal in the 49th minute before Semenyo netted his debut goal five minutes later with a composed finish.
Tijjani Reijnders curled home a superb seventh from the edge of the area in the 71st minute, while Nico O’Reilly headed in the eighth from a Lewis cross.
Seventeen-year-old Ryan McAidoo added the ninth with a strike from outside the box in the 86th minute.
The result marked City’s biggest win since their 10–1 victory over Huddersfield in 1987, having also beaten Burton Albion 9–0 in 2019.
