Last weekend, The Best of African Heritage festival (BOAH), made its inaugural mark, gathering high-profile cultural leaders, dignitaries, and tastemakers at the Wole Soyinka Centre for Performing Arts and Culture for a one-of-a-kind immersive experience.
The event celebrated the Best of African Heritage through fashion, art, performance, and culinary excellence, creating a moment that honoured tradition while presenting it through a modern, global lens.
During an exclusive interview at the event, Tola Adegbite, BOAH’s convener and owner of Turfah Fashion, shared that the festival was conceived as an ode to FESTAC 77. “BOAH 360 is about honouring the past while celebrating African creativity today,” she explained, highlighting the event’s role in positioning African heritage as both legacy and living, evolving culture.
The evening unfolded across multiple dimensions, featuring Turfah’s fashion presentations, curated art exhibitions, live spoken word and dance performances, and a meticulously designed culinary journey. Every element was intentionally crafted to celebrate African excellence, providing guests with a multi-sensory experience that went beyond traditional showcases.
As a pioneering cultural platform, BOAH 360 demonstrated how thoughtfully curated events can establish cultural infrastructure.
By blending heritage with innovation, it positioned African culture as a global narrative, connecting creatives, cultural leaders, and audiences through a shared appreciation of excellence and storytelling.
BOAH is more than a festival; it is a statement that African heritage, when celebrated intentionally, can inspire, educate, and connect at the highest level.
The inaugural event sets the stage for future editions, promising to become a defining fixture on the continent’s cultural calendar.
