The Nasarawa State Police Command has rescued four abducted children and reunited them with their families following a discreet, intelligence-led operation that led to the arrest of key suspects in Karu Local Government Area of the state.
The rescue operation was launched after a report was received on December 31, 2025, at the New Nyanya Police Division over the mysterious disappearance of the children under suspicious circumstances, prompting swift action by the Command.
Detectives immediately commenced a thorough, intelligence-driven investigation, deploying both technical and human intelligence to trace the movements of those suspected to be behind the abduction.
Acting on credible intelligence, operatives of the Nasarawa State Police Command, in collaboration with their counterparts from the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command, stormed the suspects’ hideout where the four children were safely recovered unhurt.
Confirming the development in a statement by Shetima Jauro Mohammed, the commissioner of police through Ramhan Nansel, the Police Public Relations Officer of the Command, made available to journalists on Tuesday in Lafia, said preliminary investigations revealed that the children were allegedly abducted by Abraham Asoje, 28, who reportedly conspired with Joy Bolaje, 29, both residents of Ado Junction in Karu LGA, Nasarawa State, and kept the victims in confinement before police intervention.
“The children have been reunited with their families, while efforts are ongoing to apprehend other fleeing suspects connected to the crime,” the CP said.
Commending the operatives involved in the rescue, the Commissioner of Police described the operation as a reflection of effective intelligence gathering and inter-agency collaboration.
“This successful rescue underscores the professionalism, dedication, and swift response of our officers in ensuring the safety of lives and property across the state,” the Commissioner added.
