Troops of Sector 1 of Operation FANSAN YAMMA have rescued six kidnapped persons during a coordinated security operation in the Kajuru/Kujama axis of Kaduna State.
The rescue was carried out on January 5, 2026, as part of a broader, multi-pronged operation conducted simultaneously across Chikun, Kajuru, Kachia and Kagarko Local Government Areas, extending to border communities around Kauru.
This was contained in a statement by Shuaib Umar, Acting Deputy Director, Army Public Relations, 1 Division Nigerian Army/Sector 1 Operation FANSAN YAMMA on Tuesday.

The military said the operation was designed to further restrict the movement and operational space of violent extremists operating within the Joint Operations Area.
According to the Army, troops of Sub-Sector 5 were already on clearance operations in the Kujeni general area when they received a distress alert about the presence and activities of armed criminals around the Kasso adjoining hills.
“Acting swiftly on the intelligence, the troops advanced to the location and made contact with the criminals.
“On sighting the advancing soldiers, the criminals engaged briefly but were overpowered by effective suppressive fire from the troops, forcing them to flee in disarray into the surrounding forest.
“The troops immediately exploited the area, leading to the successful rescue of six abducted victims who had been held by the fleeing criminals.
“The rescued victims were safely evacuated from the area and subsequently handed over to representatives of the Kajuru Local Government Area and the Kajuru Emirate Council”, the statement read.
It added that they will be reunited with their families after preliminary care and documentation.
Commending the operation, Abubakar Wase, General Officer Commanding 1 Division Nigerian Army and Commander, Sector 1 Operation FANSAN YAMMA, praised the troops for their professionalism and swift response.
He charged them to remain on maximum alert and to sustain the aggressive operational tempo to continue denying criminal elements freedom of action within the Joint Operations Area.
The Nigerian Army said operations under Operation FANSAN YAMMA remain ongoing, with troops maintaining pressure on criminal groups across identified flashpoints in Kaduna State and adjoining areas.
