Troops of the Joint Task Force North East, Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), have dismantled a suspected suicide bombing support network and intercepted a major consignment of terrorists’ logistics during coordinated operations in Adamawa State.
The military said the operations form part of intensified cordon-and-search efforts aimed at tracking perpetrators and facilitators of the December 24 Gamboru Market Mosque suicide bombing in Maiduguri.
In a statement on Monday, Sani Uba, Media Information Officer, Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI. disclosed that troops, acting on sustained surveillance and actionable intelligence, carried out a coordinated cordon-and-search operation in the Yan Lemo area of Mubi South Local Government Area in the early hours of January 5, 2026.

“During the operation, eight suspects were arrested, including two principal suspects believed to be key facilitators within the suicide bombing network. The suspects were apprehended at a residence identified as a meeting and logistics point for the group.
“A search of the premises led to the recovery of cash, mobile phones, identification documents, Automated Teller Machine (ATM) cards, jewellery and other personal effects”, it added.
Military also said the recovered items are undergoing forensic analysis to aid ongoing investigations and intelligence exploitation.
According to the statement, a suspect already in custody positively identified the two principal suspects as individuals who supplied materials used in the preparation of the Improvised Explosive Device (IED) deployed in the attack.
“Other occupants of the residence were also found to have links to the network, further strengthening investigators’ assessments of an organised support structure.
“All the suspects are currently in military custody and are undergoing detailed interrogation to facilitate additional intelligence recovery.
“They will be handed over to relevant authorities for continued investigation and possible prosecution at the conclusion of preliminary military processes”, the statement read.
In a related operation, OPHK troops on January 4 intercepted a large consignment of suspected terrorists’ logistics in Mayo Nguli, Maiha Local Government Area of Adamawa State.
The troops seized 45 jerrycans of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), with an estimated total volume of about 1,125 litres, believed to have been smuggled to support terrorist activities.
The military said the suppliers abandoned the petroleum products and fled on sighting the troops.
The seized fuel has been taken into military custody for further action. No casualties were recorded during the operation.
It noted that the latest successes underscore its resolve to dismantle terrorist networks, disrupt logistics and supply chains, prevent future attacks and ensure that all perpetrators and collaborators are brought to justice.
The military also urged residents of the North East to remain vigilant and continue to cooperate with security agencies, noting that timely information from the public remains critical to sustaining security gains across the region.
