The Federal Government has formally dropped the criminal case it filed against Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, the senator representing Kogi Central.
A notice indicating the withdrawal was submitted in the matter marked FHC/ABJ/CR/195/2025, which lists the Federal Government as the complainant and Akpoti-Uduaghan as the defendant.
Dated December 12, 2025, the notice of discontinuance was filed in line with Sections 108(1), 108(2)(a), and 108(5) of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act, 2015. It stated that the Office of the Attorney-General of the Federation had decided to bring the prosecution to an end.
The document bears the signatures of M.B. Abubakar, Director of Public Prosecutions of the Federation, alongside Aderonke Imana, Assistant Chief State Counsel. The filing was done on behalf of the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi.
According to court records, the Federal High Court in Abuja received and acknowledged the notice on December 15, 2025. It was later authenticated as a certified true copy by the court registry on December 18, 2025.

Meanwhile, Godswill Akpabio, Senate President had earlier announced that he instructed his legal team to discontinue all defamation-related lawsuits he had initiated against various individuals.
It will be recalled that in December 2025, Akpabio filed a ₦200 billion defamation suit against Akpoti-Uduaghan at the FCT High Court in Abuja, following allegations of sexual harassment leveled against him.
