Residents of Bum community in Chugwi, Vwang District of Jos South Local Government Area of Plateau State were thrown into mourning following a deadly attack that shattered new year celebrations.
The attack reportedly occurred around 11:00 p.m. on December 31, 2025, as residents were preparing to bid farewell to 2025 and welcome the new year.
A statement by Rwang Tengwong National Publicity Secretary, Berom Youths Moulder-Association (BYM) made available to Journalists on Thursday morning in Jos through the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) WhatsApp platform said armed militants or bandits stormed the community barely minutes into 2026, unleashing violence on unsuspecting residents.
