Sim Fubara was made governor under tension, and under tension he has remained. His administration is simply a child of tension. Then Gov Nyesom Wike singlehandedly bought form for him and all those who contested any election under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). This caused tension when some aspirants rejected such impunity. It rose to court levels and detentions, and back, and Fubara remained the choice as made by Wike.
Few months into office, Wike made war to Fubara and the tension remained till September 17, 2025 when the state of emergency that the tension created came to an end. Peace was pronounced when Fubara allegedly entered into submissive agreements to be of good behavior thenceforth.
Barely one month after, the lion seemed to escape from the cage. Fubara emerged from a meeting in Aso Rock looking confident and man of his own destiny, or borrowed destiny, at least.

Now, the godfather has levied war again, apparently stung by the new Fubara who has defected to the president’s party and is claiming to be 001 in the APC in Rivers State. Wike thinks he is the rightful Number One in Rivers politics no matter the party.
The FCT Minister has moved down to PH, into the Alternate Govt House he built while governor. Thus, two power blocs have emerged again. He has vowed to fight Fubara toe to toe.
Wike hyped a world press conference in the Alternate Govt House and is shelling from there. The ticket is the dangling target.
Wike has already warned that sudden declarations of support for President Bola Tinubu will not help Fubara.
Wike will not allow any other person to be seen as the arrowhead of the Tinubu reelection in Rivers State.
Wike seems to hit left, right, and centre.
Wike’s stand is that ‘Agreement is Agreement’. He alone seems to know that there was an agreement and what the agreement agrees to. None of the parties had agreed to disclose the terms of the deal when it was done.
Wike’s men disclosed there was N600bn in the Rivers treasury, and Fubara confirmed, but now, Wike seems angry with everybody for disclosing the find. He thinks people are massing behind Fubara to get a claw into the treasury.
He has given it ethnic coloration, making it look like an Ikwerre fight.
