Former Super Eagles head coach Sunday Oliseh has expressed satisfaction with Nigeria’s performance following their 3–1 victory over Uganda in the final Group C match of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) on Tuesday.
Goals from Paul Onuachu and a brace by midfielder Raphael Onyedika powered a much-changed Super Eagles side to victory in Morocco, sealing a perfect group-stage campaign for Nigeria.

Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle made several changes to the squad that defeated Tanzania and Tunisia in earlier matches, handing Onuachu a start ahead of Akor Adams.
The Trabzonspor forward repaid the confidence by opening the scoring in the 28th minute, finishing clinically from Fisayo Dele-Bashiru’s pass from the left, just two minutes after veteran goalkeeper Denis Onyango had denied him from close range.
Onyedika added two goals in the second half to put the result beyond doubt, as Nigeria finished top of Group C with three wins from three matches.
Reacting to the performance, Oliseh, a former international, praised the organisation and cohesion of the team, particularly the contributions of non-regular starters.
“I think this is one of our best performances, the way the organisation was and the fact that they were not regulars,” Oliseh told Nigerian photojournalist Justina Aniefiok.
The Super Eagles’ victory over Uganda capped an impressive group-stage run, with Nigeria collecting the maximum nine points and underlining their dominance in Group C.
Nigeria’s Round of 16 match is scheduled for Monday, January 5, at the Fez Stadium—the same venue where the Super Eagles played all their group-stage matches.
They are set to face the third-placed team from Group F, with potential opponents including defending champions Ivory Coast, Cameroon or Mozambique.
