Police operatives in Nasarawa State have recorded a major operational success following the neutralisation of an armed robbery suspect and the recovery of a firearm along the Lafia–Obi road.
The operation, according to a statement by Ramhan Nansel, the Police Public Relations Officer of the command (PPRO), made available to journalists on Saturday in Jos, said the operation was carried out in compliance with the directive of Shetima Jauro Mohammed, the Commissioner of Police, Nasarawa State Command to intensify relentless raids on criminal hideouts and ensure a hitch-free yuletide across the state.

“The incident occurred on December 26, 2025, at about 7:45 p.m., when operatives attached to Jenkwe Division, while on intensive patrol, encountered a five-man armed robbery syndicate that had blocked the highway in an attempt to rob motorists.
“Upon sighting the police patrol team, the suspects reportedly engaged the operatives in a gun duel, leading to a brief exchange of fire between both parties.
“During the exchange of fire, one of the suspects was killed, leading to the recovery of a locally fabricated pistol and one live ammunition, while other members of the gang escaped into the bush with suspected gunshot wounds,” the Police PPRO stated.
The police further disclosed that the body of the neutralised suspect was recovered and deposited at the Federal University of Lafia Teaching Hospital, while efforts are ongoing to track and arrest the fleeing suspects.
