Sevilla forward Akor Adams has praised his partnership with Victor Osimhen in the Super Eagles’ attack, noting that their playing styles complement each other perfectly.
Adams was named in Eric Chelle’s starting line-up for Nigeria’s opening match of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), making his tournament debut as the Super Eagles edged Tanzania 2–1 in Fes on Tuesday.
The Sevilla striker partnered Osimhen from the start for only the third time in his international career.

Speaking to Richard Nwajei in the mixed zone after the match, Adams expressed satisfaction with the growing understanding between himself and Osimhen.
“It’s a pleasure for me. We complement each other very well with our qualities. He knows what he’s doing, and I know what I’m doing. It’s all positive, and you can see it on the pitch,” he said.
Reflecting on his journey to the continental stage, Adams added, “I’m grateful to God. I can dream of things, and they happen, so I thank God for the power of faith.”
Looking ahead, Adams expressed his desire for a long international career with Nigeria, particularly at AFCON.
“By God’s grace, as many as possible, as many as my legs can take.”
Adams and Osimhen had also started together in Nigeria’s 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying matches against the Republic of Benin and Gabon.
Adams now has two goals in five appearances for the Super Eagles ahead of Saturday’s group-stage clash against Tunisia in Fes.
Meanwhile, Super Eagles talisman Osimhen has issued a rallying call to Nigerian fans, declaring that the squad is mentally and physically ready to contest for a fourth continental title at AFCON 2025 in Morocco.
Nigeria will aim for another positive result when they face Tunisia in their second group-stage match on Saturday.
