The Kano State Police Command, says it has arrested a suspected notorious armed robber, Abba Aliyu, popularly known as “Abba Fiya,” during a prompt response to a distress call at Hausawa Quarters in Kano.
The arrest, which took place on Saturday, December 21, was carried out by operatives of the Anti-Daba Unit of the Command, acting in line with the directive of Kayode Egbetokun, Inspector-General of Police (IGP), on rapid response to emergency situations.

According to Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, Kano state commissioner of Police, the operation was conducted in the early hours of Saturday, led to the arrest of the suspect.
Aliyu, 26, said to be a resident of Dala Quarters, Kano, was apprehended following a report of an armed robbery incident, noting that a sharp knife was recovered from him at the time of arrest.
During interrogation, the suspect reportedly confessed to involvement in several armed robbery operations and rivalry Daba-related fights in areas including Gobirawa Gangare, Dala, and Tudun Fulani Mayanka Quarters of Kano State.
Further investigation is said to have also led to confessions linking him to a series of armed robbery incidents that allegedly resulted in deaths, injuries, and loss of property across Kano, Rivers, and Lagos States.
Police authorities stated that investigation into the case is ongoing and that the suspect will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.
The Commissioner of Police commended the officers involved for the successful arrest and urged members of the public to continue cooperating with the Police by reporting suspicious movements or activities to the nearest police station or through the Command’s emergency numbers.
