The Plateau State Police Command has confirmed a kidnapping incident involving travellers heading to Gaji village in Bashar District of Wase Local Government Area of the state.
The incident, according to the Command, occurred on Sunday, when unsuspecting citizens were abducted while on transit to the community.

In a statement by Alfred Alabo, the Police Public Relations Officer of the Command (PPRO), made available to journalists on Tuesday in Jos, said the case was brought to their attention on Monday following a report by a good samaritan.
“Upon receipt of the report, an intelligence-driven team of detectives was immediately deployed to the scene to commence investigations.”
The statement added that Emmanuel Olugbemiga Adesina, the commissioner of Police has ordered a comprehensive investigation into the incident.
“It further directed security operatives to intensify efforts aimed at rescuing the kidnapped victims unhurt,” Alabo said.
The statement added that the CP also vowed that the perpetrators of the crime would be tracked down and brought to justice.
It assured residents of Wase Local Government Area and the general public that no effort would be spared in ensuring the safety of lives and property.
The police appealed to members of the public with useful or credible information to assist ongoing investigations.
Such information, the police noted should be reported to the nearest police station or through the Command’s control room.
