The Edo State Internal Revenue Service (EIRS) has recorded a historic milestone, surpassing ₦100 billion in Internally-Generated Revenue (IGR) within one year, the highest in the Agency’s history.
Oladele Bankole-Balogun, Chairman of EIRS, attributed the achievement to divine grace, policy support of Governor Monday Okpebholo and the commitment of the Service’s workforce.

He disclosed this during an event organised by the EIRS Management and Staff to mark the first anniversary of the current Board and birthday of the Board’s Chairman in Benin City.
“For the first time in the history of Edo State, we have exceeded ₦100 billion in IGR within a single year. This represents a significant leap from the ₦68 billion recorded under the previous administration”, he said.
According to him, the revenue growth reflects deliberate reforms, improved operational efficiency, and enhanced staff engagement aimed at strengthening the State’s fiscal sustainability.
“This achievement would not have been possible without the grace of God, the support of His Excellency, Governor Monday Okpebholo, and the dedication of EIRS staff who consistently translate policy direction into measurable outcomes”, he added.
The EIRS Chairman urged Staff to consolidate the gains, stressing the need to sustain professionalism, teamwork, and innovation to exceed current performance levels in the coming fiscal year.
He further noted that mutual understanding and synergy within the Service remain critical to driving institutional growth and improving revenue mobilisation for the State.
