Anthony Joshua’s clinical power was on full display at the Kaseya Center, as he dropped a tiring Jake Paul twice in the fifth round before delivering the final blow in the sixth.
Mandatory Medical ban
As a direct result of the knockout, the 28-year-old Paul will receive a mandatory 60-day medical ban from the Florida Athletic Commission. This “ban” is standard procedure for fighters who suffer a knockout to ensure adequate recovery time for the brain and body.
However, given the confirmed jaw fracture, medical experts suggest the suspension could be extended significantly. While initial bone healing typically takes six weeks, a full return to high-impact sparring and professional competition usually requires four to six months of rehabilitation.
Despite the injury and the looming ban, Jake Paul remained upbeat in his post-fight comments, acknowledging the gap in class between himself and an elite heavyweight.
“I’ve already won in every single way in life. My jaw is broken, by the way; it’s definitely broken,” Paul admitted.
“I just got tired; there was so much handling his weight. I think with better cardio, I could’ve kept fighting.”
The loss marks the second of Jake Paul’s professional career (12-2), and he confirmed plans to step away from boxing temporarily.
“I’m going to take a little break. I’ve been going hard for six years,” he added.
“We’ll heal the broken jaw, go back, fight people my own weight, and go for the cruiserweight world title.”
