The Chartered Institute of Professional Printers of Nigeria (CIPPON) has commended the declaration by Mohammed Idris, minister of information and national orientation, on the planned revival of the abandoned Federal Government Printing Press (FGPP).
The commendation followed the official inauguration of the CIPPON Governing Council, led by Koko T. Clement, on December 15, 2025, at the ministry’s conference room in Abuja.
Speaking after the inauguration, Clement said the revival of the FGPP was a long-awaited development that would boost the growth of Nigeria’s printing industry. He noted that the press has the potential to strengthen the country’s security printing capacity, promote local content and create employment opportunities.
“We commend the minister for his vision and commitment to reviving the FGPP and look forward to working with him to ensure its success,” Clement said.
“The involvement of the federal government will reduce dependence on imported printing materials, create jobs for Nigerians in the printing industry and contribute to economic growth.”
He urged stakeholders to support the revival of the FGPP, expressing confidence that with the right policies and support, the printing industry would flourish and become a significant contributor to the national economy.
Clement, the fourth president and chairman-in-council of CIPPON, also encouraged government printing presses across the country to comply with industry regulations by acquiring the required licences to ensure the proper growth of the institute and the profession.
