The Chairman of the Local Organising Committee for the 2026 Nigeria Oil and Gas Industry Games (NOGIG), Dr Sulaiman Sulaiman, has outlined his vision and priorities for the forthcoming edition of the games.
The 2026 NOGIG is scheduled for February 2026, with preliminary football matches set to take place in Port Harcourt from January 12 to 17, 2026.
The main games will be held from February 8 to 12, 2026, at Package B of the Moshood Abiola Stadium, Abuja.

NOGIG 2026 will feature a wide range of sports, including tennis, golf, table tennis, swimming, scrabble, chess, snooker, volleyball and athletics. The athletics events will include men’s and women’s 100 metres, 200 metres and 4×100 metres relays.
“My vision is to focus on excellence, innovation, visibility and the sustainability of the NOGIG Games. Those are my priorities as chairman,” Dr Sulaiman said.
He emphasised that NOGIG has become an integral platform within the industry, fostering unity and collaboration across organisations in the Nigerian oil and gas sector.
“NOGIG has come to stay. It provides a platform for enhancing inter-corporate relationships and connectivity.
“The Games are organised to promote unity, wellness, networking and cooperation among employees in the Nigerian oil and gas industry,” he added.
The 2026 edition will be the 20th in the series since the Games debuted in 1986 and will feature participation from 15 companies.
According to Simon Nweke, the Chairman of the Media and Publicity Sub-Committee, participating organisations include PTI, NNPCL, NUPRC, NMDPR, and NCDMB.
Others are Renaissance Africa Energy Company Limited, OANDO, TotalEnergies, ND Western, Aradel Holdings, ExxonMobil, Shell (SNEPCO), Seplat, Chevron and NLNG.
Dr Sulaiman further assured Nigerians of an improved spectacle.
