United States President Donald Trump received the inaugural FIFA Peace Prize during Friday’s 2026 FIFA World Cup draw in Washington, D.C.
The award, introduced this year by FIFA president Gianni Infantino, is designated for individuals who have taken exceptional and extraordinary actions for peace and united people across the world.
Trump, who arrived at the ceremony alongside Infantino after several public appearances together in recent months, had long been considered the favourite.

The 79-year-old became the first-ever recipient of FIFA’s new peace prize at the World Cup draw, a symbolic honour for a leader whose pursuit of the Nobel Peace Prize remains unfulfilled.
Infantino presented Trump with the award at the Kennedy Center.
“Thank you very much. This is truly one of the great honours of my life,” Trump said.
“And beyond awards, Gianni and I were discussing this; we saved millions and millions of lives.”
Infantino praised Trump for exceptional and extraordinary actions to promote global peace and unity.
The 2026 World Cup will be co-hosted by the U.S., Canada and Mexico.
