President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will on Sunday confer the Distinguished Award for Excellence in Infrastructure Delivery and Sustainable Regional Growth on Samuel Ogbuku, Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).
The announcement was made in a statement signed by Seledi Thompson-Wakama, NDDC Director of Corporate Affairs.
This latest honour comes barely days after Ogbuku received the BusinessDay Public Service Excellence Award 2025 at an event themed “Shaping Nigeria’s Economic Future” in Abuja, underscoring his consistent commitment to public service and the advancement of sustainable development initiatives in the Niger Delta.
According to an official communication from Mohammed Sanusi Danjuma, Permanent Secretary, General Services Office, Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (OSGF), Ogbuku was selected for the honour following his outstanding contributions to infrastructure development and sustainable growth efforts in the Niger Delta region.
The award will be presented at the Nigeria Excellence Awards in Public Service (NEAPS), organised by The Best Strategic (TBS) Media in collaboration with the OSGF, and is scheduled to hold at the State House Conference Centre, Abuja, with President Tinubu in attendance.

“With reference to the letter from the Chairman, Advisory Council of Nigeria Excellence Awards in Public Service, I write to respectfully inform you that you have been nominated to receive a Distinguished Award for Excellence in Infrastructure Delivery and Sustainable Regional Growth,” the statement read.
According to the statement, the recognition aligns with President Tinubu’s earlier commendation of the NDDC leadership during the Niger Delta Stakeholders Summit in Port Harcourt on July 12, 2024, where he commended the Commission’s Board and Management for working cohesively to accelerate development in the oil-rich region.
Ogbuku’s tenure has seen notable progress in road and bridge construction, rehabilitation projects, and the provision of essential social amenities across Niger Delta communities, efforts that have strengthened regional infrastructure and promoted inclusive growth.
