Arne Slot says he remains confident of keeping his job despite Liverpool’s alarming slump and Wednesday’s humiliating 4-1 home defeat to PSV Eindhoven in the Champions League.
Liverpool’s season plunged deeper into crisis as PSV tore them apart at Anfield. Ivan Perisic’s early penalty set the tone, and although Dominik Szoboszlai briefly levelled, second-half goals from Guus Til and a Couhaib Driouech brace condemned the Reds to a ninth defeat in their last 12 matches across all competitions.

It is Liverpool’s worst run since the 1953/54 season, sparking furious jeers from supporters and leaving Slot under intense scrutiny. Large pockets of empty seats appeared well before full-time, a rare and damning sight at Anfield.
Lost 3-0 to Nottingham Forest last weekend, Liverpool have now lost three consecutive games, conceding 10 goals in that spell.

The Reds now sit 12th in the Premier League table and have suffered their first Champions League home defeat in the opening phase in five years, leaving qualification for the last 16 far from certain.
Despite the mounting pressure, Slot insists he still enjoys the backing of Fenway Sports Group.
“I am feeling safe; I am OK. I have got a lot of support from above,” Slot said.
“If you are not doing well, it is normal that questions are asked. I’m not worried. My focus is on improving the team, not my own position.”
Liverpool’s decline has triggered strong criticism, including from club legend Steven Gerrard, who called the situation “close to a crisis”.
“There are no excuses for a performance like that,” Gerrard told TNT Sports. “Their confidence is at an all-time low; they are wide open. Unless the manager finds stability, this will continue.”
Slot admitted earlier in the week that he feels “guilty” over the team’s “ridiculous” form, but the Dutchman has yet to find a solution to halt Liverpool’s slide.
