Titilope Adisa-Obafemi, convener, Ascend360, has called on the Federal Government (FG) to harmonise all data collection and make registration a bit more seamless to help small businesses in the country thrive.
Adisa-Obafemi said micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in the country are often frustrated by the registration processes.
“One of the things that the government can look into is consolidating all these things into one.

“A lot of people end up just not registering their businesses, because tell me why I want to just do a reservation of name and it’s taking like two weeks,” she said during the maiden edition of Ascend 360, themed ‘Build, Protect, Grow.’
According to her, the conference was designed by Blaque Swann Legal Practitioners to equip entrepreneurs with the knowledge, legal frameworks and growth strategies needed to build, protect and scale their businesses.
She also urged the government to restructure the Bank of Industry (BOI) to make access to loans easier for MSMEs and SMEs.
Adisa-Obafemi also advocated for a coordinated social security number, which will make tracking loan defaulters earlier for creditors.
Speaking on the theme of the conference, ‘Build, Protect, Grow,’ she said that anybody building a worthwhile business wants it to grow.

“So, we thought that, let us teach people how to build properly, protect what it is that they are building, and to protect so that they can now grow exponentially,” she said.
Adisa-Obafemi, who is also the Principal, Blaque Swann Legal Practitioners, said that the conference was designed to touch every aspect of the participants’ lives and also empower entrepreneurs with specific legal tips that apply to their industries, and in return help them conduct their businesses within the confines of the law.
“The event is supposed to serve as a catalyst for entrepreneurs to move their businesses to the next level, and that is why we chose the name Ascend.”
