The newly elected President of Nigerian Council of Registered Insurance Brokers (NCRIB) Ekeoma Ezeibe, has unveiled her thrust of office with the theme ‘‘One Insurance Industry’, and has chosen Abia State as the pilot location for a nationwide insurance distribution and awareness drive.
The initiative, Ezeibe said while briefing the press said it’s designed to increase insurance penetration by partnering with the state government and leveraging the economic vibrancy of Aba and other major markets in the state to drive penetration, having seen infrastructure and market revival in the part of the South East.
Abia was selected to test the strategy before replicating it across other states, as insurance awareness is currently in that part of the Country, Ekeoma said. Southwest region.
She disclosed her trust of office consist of five key components which are: Deepening Insurance penetration, completion of Olola Olabode Ogunlana House; having a good relationship with the National Insurance Commission (NAICOM); capacity building for brokers; mentorship for young brokers and collaboration with necessary stakeholders.

She noted that focusing on one insurance industry, as a key driver would help put the sector in its rightful place in the economy of Nigeria.
“When we talk about the insurance industry, it means that we have already realized that we really need something for the consumer, especially insurance brokers. We are the people that reach out to the consumers; this is our responsibility to do so. It is our responsibility to go out there and take advantage of the Nigerian Insurance Industry Reform Act NIIRA (2025),” she said.
According to her, the industry needs contributions from brokers: media; loss adjuster; underwriters; policyholders and NAICOM to attain necessary progress.
According to her, having entrenched insurance in Abia State, her administration’s campaign train would move to the northern part of Nigeria where insurance awareness is still relatively low, stressing that deepening insurance penetration would be strategic on her plan.
Ezeibe submitted that her team would build on the legacies laid down by her predecessors and founding fathers of the NCRIB, stressing that the cordial and robust relationships with NAICOM and other arms of the industry would be sustained and enhanced.
She said brokers, big and small would be empowered to enable them expand and enhance their contributions to the sector and by extension the economy.
The NCRIB boss stated that the society also would be greatly impacted through Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), noting that the insurance industry can only do better when the society is happy with its operations.
She called on all stakeholders to join hands with her administration in taking the insurance industry to lofty heights, stressing that the economy would benefit greatly from a thriving insurance sector.
