The Super Eagles camp in Uyo is buzzing with the arrivals of key players ahead of Saturday’s crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying clash against Rwanda.
Captain William Troost-Ekong, defender Bruno Onyemaechi, and goalkeeper Amas Obasogie were among the first to report to camp on Monday morning. Troost-Ekong and Obasogie arrived together, later joined by Onyemaechi.
Werder Bremen left-back Felix Agu, who impressed at the Unity Cup in London during the summer, also checked in alongside the early arrivals.
In attack, Simon Moses, fresh from scoring and assisting in Paris FC’s weekend league win, is already in camp. They were joined by Greece-based goalkeeper Adeleye Adebayo, defenders Chidozie Awaziem and Benjamin Fredericks, and midfielders Wilfred Ndidi, Frank Onyeka, and Fisayo Dele-Bashiru.
Wing-back Ola Aina, defenders Bright Osayi-Samuel and Calvin Bassey, plus midfielder Alex Iwobi, have also reported for duty.
First-choice goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali, recovering from a recent injury scare, was expected to join on Tuesday evening. Also expected are new Crystal Palace midfielder Christantus Uche, Fulham winger Samuel Chukwueze, Wolves striker Tolu Arokodare, and Panathinaikos forward Cyriel Dessers.
African Player of the Year Ademola Lookman, Galatasaray striker Victor Osimhen, and midfielder Raphael Onyedika are also due to link up with the squad.
Nigeria’s 23-man squad will not only face Rwanda in Uyo but will also travel to Bloemfontein for their Matchday 8 fixture against South Africa at the Toyota Stadium (Free State Stadium) on Tuesday evening.
