Everton have agreed a season-long loan deal with Manchester City for Jack Grealish, with an option to buy the midfielder for £50m.
The 29-year-old has slipped down the pecking order under Pep Guardiola, missing City’s final Premier League game of last season against Fulham and the Club World Cup in the United States. A medical at Everton is imminent, according to BBC Sport sources.
Grealish, who reportedly earns £300,000 a week, joined City from Aston Villa in August 2021 for a then-British record £100m fee. He has since made over 150 appearances, winning three Premier League titles, the Champions League, and the FA Cup.
However, last season saw him start only seven league matches, with Guardiola preferring 18-year-old Claudio Echeverri in the FA Cup final defeat to Crystal Palace. City also finished the campaign without a major trophy.
Although Grealish had initially hoped for a permanent move and interest from Champions League clubs such as Newcastle United and Tottenham, no concrete offers emerged.
The switch to Everton offers him regular football and the chance to revive his career at the club’s new Hill Dickinson Stadium.
The England playmaker will also be targeting an international return, having admitted he was “heartbroken” to miss the Three Lions squad for Euro 2024.
