Manchester United chief executive Omar Berrada has boldly set the club a target of winning the Premier League title in 2028, coinciding with the club’s 150th anniversary.
Despite a disastrous 2024/25 campaign under Ruben Amorim, which saw Man United finish 15th on the Premier League standings, 42 points behind champions Liverpool, and miss out on European football after a Europa League final defeat to Tottenham, Berrada remains confident in the club’s long-term vision.

Speaking about the “Project 150” initiative introduced last September, Berrada outlined a strategic plan aimed at returning United to the summit of English football. The club was founded in 1878 as Newton Heath and will celebrate its 150th year in 2028.
“Can the team win the Premier League title by 2028? Of course,” Berrada told United We Stand. “We’ve just finished 15th, and it seems an impossible task. But why not aim for it? “Why not do everything in our power?”
Berrada, formerly Manchester City’s chief football operations officer, emphasised the importance of setting ambitious yet clear goals to guide the club’s rebuilding process.
“It’s about establishing a series of targets within a timeframe so we can focus our efforts and energy on that goal,” he said. “We have two or three summer windows to build a team capable of challenging for the title.”
The women’s team is also part of the club’s dual ambition, with United targeting the Women’s Super League (WSL) title by 2028. They finished third last season, 16 points behind six-time champions Chelsea, who also beat them in the FA Cup final.
Manchester United have not lifted the Premier League trophy since Sir Alex Ferguson’s final season in 2012/13. With Berrada leading a new era of strategic planning and recruitment, the club now has a clear milestone in sight: Premier League champions by 2028.
