Inoyo Toro Foundation, a non-profit organisation, has empowered her 2024 award-winning teachers in a bid to improve learning outcomes and reward excellence, according to a statement issued by the group.
The Uyo-based foundation, saddled with the mandate of eradicating poverty through education using the teacher as a vocal point, has in almost two decades trained all her award winning teachers for excellence.
“The sole aim of the training has been to get the award winners to replicate themselves by mentoring other teachers for excellence in teaching. The outcome of this effort is seen in many of the products of public schools in Akwa Ibom State,” the foundation said.

The training, held on Friday, May 2, 2025 in Uyo had seasoned facilitators and professionals drawn across various disciplines. Also among the facilitators were three previous Grand Mentors who were invited to share their mentoring experiences with the present teachers as this would help motivate and build capacity for excellence in the present batch.
Established in 2007 in response to the need for private sector involvement in eradicating poverty through education and supporting educational development in Akwa Ibom state and Nigeria at large, the foundation has spent N650 million on its operational activities and trained more than 3,520 teachers, according data sourced from its website.
The training program, according to the organisers, covers mentoring practices such as effective mentoring, mentoring tools and communication, developing a mentoring program.
“This is designed to equip them to become Teacher Mentors and their mentees will be required to compete with other teachers for prizes in English, Maths, Biology, Chemistry, Physics. The teacher mentor who excels in their subject area becomes a grand mentor.”
