Despite the apprehension, Anambra State gubernatorial election kicked off as expected and it is progressing well without any violence.
Observers who spoke with BusinessDay attributed the calm atmosphere to the cancellation of the sit-at-home order by the members of Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), a day to the Election Day.
Our Correspondent in Awka reports that many streets in the capital city of Anambra had been deserted yesterday, without either any sign of human being or vehicular movement. But life seemed to have returned to the city following the announcement of the cancellation.

Eighteen political parties and candidates are in the governorship race and voting is taking place expected to take place across more than 5,000 polling units in the 21 local government areas of the state.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had said ahead of the election that there were 2.5 million registered voters and 5,720 polling units in the state but that there would be no voting in 86 of them because there are no registered voters there.
Our correspondent reports that there is calm across the state meanwhile, although with minor glitches in some voting units, with the digital capturing device.
